The Challenge

The challenge

The client required an internal infrastructure upgrade to support increased workstation capacity and future IT expansion across multiple office areas.

The project involved the installation of both power and data services within existing and newly configured spaces.

The existing layout lacked sufficient power distribution and structured cabling provision to support modern office requirements.

Key challenges included:

  • Live Environment: The works were undertaken within an operational office setting, requiring careful coordination to minimise disruption to staff.
  • Future-Proofing: The data infrastructure needed to accommodate future connection without immediate termination, allowing flexibility for phased IT deployment.
  • Space Constraints: Installation within existing offices required integration with current layouts while maintaining a clean and professional finish.

Our Solution

Our solution

A phased installation approach was adopted to ensure efficient delivery while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

Our Approach

  • Data Infrastructure: Installation of 58 Category 6 data cables routed from the upstairs comms cabinet into dado trunking across six separate rooms, left ready for future termination.
  • Containment: Installation of 60 metres of three-compartment skirting trunking across three existing office spaces to segregate power and data services effectively.
  • Power Distribution: Installation and connection of 22 double socket outlets across office and open-plan areas to improve accessibility and load distribution.
  • Compliance: Full inspection, testing, and certification provided upon completion to ensure compliance with current electrical standards.

Technical Execution

The project was delivered in a controlled and structured manner, ensuring all installations met both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Containment systems were installed first, including three-compartment skirting trunking, allowing for clear segregation of services and a streamlined cable management solution.

Additional containment was installed where required to support cable routing throughout the premises.

A total of 58 Cat 6 data cables were installed from the communications cabinet and distributed into six rooms via dado trunking. Cables were neatly dressed and clearly labelled, ready for future connection.

Power infrastructure works included the installation and connection of 22 double socket outlets across both enclosed offices and open-plan areas. All wiring was integrated into the existing electrical system, ensuring safe and balanced load distribution.

Upon completion, all electrical installations were fully inspected, tested, and certified in accordance with current regulations.

The Results

The results

The project was completed successfully, providing the client with a scalable and well- structured internal infrastructure to support both current operations and future growth.

  • Improved Functionality: Enhanced power availability and structured cabling ensure the workspace can support modern office demands.
  • Future-Ready Infrastructure: Data cabling has been installed and prepared for seamless future connection, allowing flexibility for IT upgrades.
  • Professional Finish: The use of compartmentalised trunking and organised cablerouting delivers a clean, efficient, and compliant installation.
  • Assured Compliance: Full certification and testing documentation provide confidence in safety and adherence to current electrical standards.
